Museums in the 21st Century

What exactly is a museum? Today in the age of the ‘woke’ museum, when so many cultural institutions feel the need to address issues as far-ranging as Western hegemony, homophobia, sexism and postcolonialism – defining what a museum is for has become a matter of debate. It is not easy for museum directors to discern a path through the thicket. In this dicussion at the Battle of Ideas, I explored with the panellists how the entlightenment values which gave birth to the forward into the future.
